Ohio in the Snow

It's been some time since we made our way to Ohio, so we decided that this year we would make a trip up to visit family we haven't seen in a very long time.  My Grandparents weren't fairing very well so it was definitely time.  As usual with our trips up north this was wasn't very long at all.  We didn't get in until nearly midnight on Friday.  We woke up Saturday and the kids got to play in a fresh snowfall for the first time!  They've seen snow before, but this time there was plenty on the ground to have a snowball fight!  They loved it!  After that, we headed over to Springfield to spring Great Grandpa from the hospital.  Unfortunately, when we arrived at the home to visit with him and Great Grandma, it had been shut down due to illness.  After a quick bit, we headed over to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch.  It was us, Grandpa (my Dad), Grammy (my stepmom) and Hannah (my stepsisters daughter).  The 3 kids had a blast playing the games while the adults relaxed and chatted with a few beers. With fully bellies, all 3 kids piled into the car with the Grandparents while Gordon and I had a quick hour of quiet while we headed to a local craft beer store (typical).

We made our way to the Grandparents house in Pickerington and the kids had a great time playing.  We had a not so quick dinner out with a big crew and then back to the house where they had a surprise birthday celebration setup for me.  It was such a nice night...there might have even been tears!

During this whole visit, something very important to note is that we were staying in THE GHETTO! Seriously, the first night at least was mild and the place only wreaked of cigarettes, but the second night, I'm pretty sure we were all high (interesting tidbit in the blog that I'll have to explain the kids later)!

Finally Sunday morning, Gordon took the kids skating in Columbus and to meet up with an old friend of his, while we made our way back to Springfield to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Brown.  It was of course way too short seeing as though I hadn't seen them in so long, but it was nice just the same.  I got to spend a few hours and even sat with them during dinner.  It was very hard to leave, but we had to get back and they needed a rest.  So, back to the ghetto hotel, a little Donatos pizza for dinner and off to bed for the early flight out the next morning!
