The kids had a great Easter this year. We went to a fun Easter Egg Hunt at Jaden's school. There were games and a show and snow cones. We met up with one of Jaden's friends from class and the kids had a great time. Friday before Easter we had a few friends over for an egg hunt in the back yard. It was great because there were only 9 kids and they all have fun together.
Easter morning we woke up early to some eggs scattered throughout the house and a few baskets from the Easter bunny that had WAY too much candy in them (thanks to Daddy). Jaden was shoving candy in his mouth while we weren't looking. He got in 5 peeps before leaving for church at 8:30. It made for an interesting day. We still have a ton of that candy left and explaining to an almost 2 year old and 4 year old why they can't have candy for breakfast has been fun! :)
We've finally been able to spend some good time outside lately. Gordon and I have been working on the yard while the kids run around. They love riding the tractor until the battery dies. Brynna loves to grill with their play grill outside. Yesterday we got out the wiffle ball and bat and played a little "baseball" and both of them loved it!
My friend Maigen came for a spring break visit too! We got to spend some time at the beach and shopping! The kids just loved her…poor Maigen couldn’t get a break! We had a girls day her last day here and we spent a few hours at the beach with Brynna. Brynna LOVES the sand!
Jaden had spring break at school two weeks ago. It was nice to have him home, but I think he missed the routine of school. It was a little rough behaviorally for a while! We did have a special day and I took him to Busch Gardens just the two of us!
A week ago Friday I took the kids for their first hike. We went to a nearby park with trails. Jaden loved it! It's one of the first things he's done where he didn't say his feet or legs were tired and needed to sit down. We took snacks and midway through sat down at a picnic table near the water for a break and snacks. Jaden loved pointing out all the critters and plants. We also made a little friend. He was a very creepy looking bug! Jaden was in heaven!
Brynna was not a fan...of any of the bugs, but she was enjoying most of the walking around and looking at things.
SOCCER! Jaden started soccer a week ago. He's had two practices now. The first one was NOT good! They had us get there an hour before practice for pictures and then practice is 45 minutes long. It was right at naptime, so both kids had meltdowns. His second practice was great! He participated the whole time, did all the drills and listened to the coach. He said he likes soccer, so we'll see how this one goes! UPDATE: Soccer is now over. It didn't go so well...Jaden says he doesn't want to play soccer anymore!
