It's been a while

Well, we are definitely not good at updating this as much as we should and that unfortunately makes them really long. I'm going to try not to make it too long this time!

Building Building and More Building! Jaden has really been in to building lately. All he wants to do is build a garage, apartment, house, grocery store, etc out of his blocks. Big blocks or little blocks it doesn't matter so long as he gets to build. The good news is along with this building has come a good boy! We had quite the rough patch with Jaden. He had a bit of an attitude and was throwing a lot of fits and well we're over all that now. He's been pretty good. Now, his sister on the other hand has turned into quite the little demanding one. She wants what she wants when she wants it! Brynna is quite theatrical about her fits!

Jaden has been really making progress with writing lately. We started with his name and now he's great at that. I had a really proud moment last night when we were doing his homework. Every week he has a letter in which we have to attach a picture that starts with that letter. Last week was W so he wanted to attach a picture of a whale. Every week I write the word below the picture, but this time Jaden wrote whale all by himself. I wanted to cry! Every single new thing they learn still makes me all weepy!

Brynna's favorite new hairdo is Mickey Mouse hair. One day Jaden said we should fix Brynna's hair like Mickey Mouse (pigtails) and now she always asks us for Mickey Mouse hair. Sadly, this means her bow obsession in the morning has passed, but we still manage to get a bow in every now and then! Brynna also loves to build with Jaden (much to his irritation), but she often takes a break to read. She's been really in to reading lately which is great. Her favorite saying now is "How 'bout read dis." Very cute until we don't respond IMMEDIATELY and then it turns into a demanding, "read dis read dis read dis!"

Oh we can't forget to mention Brynna's first ice cream cone!  Whew, what a mess, but she was so stinkin' cute eating that cone!  Another mess was our first pizza night!  Well, it's not the first, but it's the first time Jaden and Brynna "helped" me make it.  I got the dough and sauce ready and the kids added the toppings.  It was a fun night.

Brynna has also started swimming lessons with mommy. She ends up drinking a lot of water every time because she won't close her mouth when she goes under, but she is getting better and loves it. She asks everyday if we are going swimming. The day of her lesson she says, "excited mommy swimming." Along with this she has an obsession with the potty. She needs to sit on the potty all the time and says she is pooping. She doesn't go, but she sits there and pretty much unravels all of the toilet paper and puts it in the potty...so much fun!

Jaden started ice skating lessons a few weeks ago, and at first he liked it. He was getting better, but everyone in his class had a "skate aid" to help them stay up. During the 4th lesson, the kids had to get rid of the "skate aid" and he did not take too kindly to that. He threw himself on the ice and cried and wouldn't get up. They were nice enough to let us start his lessons again in April, so we will try it all over again, as he was really doing well and having fun, he just had a fear of falling when he did not have the "skate aid" with him.

Outside of that, we took a trip up to Chicago to visit Jeremy, Faith, Avery and Kyler. Of course as usual we forgot to get our camera out until the day we left!  It was cold and snowing, so we were excited for the kids to play in the snow. We found out that Jaden hates to be cold. At first he was eating the snow (Daddy taught him that) but then his face started getting cold. We finally got him to run around in it, but once he fell it got up his gloves, in his pants and everywhere, he freaked out. I had to carry him into the building and buy him hot chocolate to warm up. Brynna figured her best defense to the cold was to sit in her stroller and not move. The less movement the better, so she just sat there like a frozen statue. We got a wake up call of what people in the North go through to get their kids dressed for cold weather, it seemed to take 15 minutes per kid.  Jaden was thrilled when we were indoors, as he got to play with Avery. They had not seen each other for over a year, since the Jones' all moved up to Chicago from Tampa. The visit was great, but Jeremy and I couldn't figure out why we came up in January (the coldest time of the year) so to even it out, they might as well come to Tampa in July (the hottest time of the year)!!

"Read dis read dis..." Ha ha ha! We have the same thing with Hayden but it's "read it mommy, read it, read it, I want read it..." :-)
