Garden Update and Homecoming

Twice a month isn't too bad for an update, right? Let's start with the garden...not good! Ha! So maybe I don't have a green thumb afterall. I assume my onions are doing well, but I'm not really sure. Only 5 of the 6 game up and they each have one little stick sprout. I guess that's good! Carrots seem to be doing alright. I planted 16 and 14 sprouted, but not it looks like I'm down to 10 or so. Not sure what happened there, but I have read that sometimes they need some shade or they will burn off so maybe that's what happened. Now my cucumbers...I was most excited about these, but alas I may end up being very disappointed. After the critter eating the first batch, I tried again and I'm not sure I'll get any fruit this year!!! They are growing soooo slow! Much slower than my first batch. I'm not sure if that's because I'm not watering them enough, that it's considerably cooler or that I've moved them in under the screen to prevent them from being eaten. Could be a combination I guess. Now, last Friday we got a really good rain and all of the sudden Sunday (when we got home from homecoming) the seemed to really take off. Of course, I gave all of the plants a little food last week so it could be that. Ahhh, don't know!!!

Oooo, exciting news...Brynna rolled over October 16th! She does it all the time now, but of course the first time it happened was one of my very rare moments of being out by myself! I was at lunch with a friend and Gordon called me to tell me that Brynna had a surprise and when I got home she was rolling over! She rolls from to back and back to front!

So, we took the kids to the Pumpkin Festival down in Bradenton with our friend Elaine and her daughter Isabelle on the 18th. We were thinking it was going to be a pumpkin patch, but it turned out to be more like a fair without the rides. We had a good time, but maybe next year we'll be a little better prepared! It was hard carrying Brynna and Jaden around for the 2 hours we were there so we were absolutely exhausted by the end of the day. I think Jaden had a good time and we got a couple little pumpkins for Jaden and Brynna.
Hm, here's a good one. Date Night Disaster! ha! Well, Gordon and I decided we needed a quick night out. We took the kids to Nana's and Nana's friend came over to help. Well, we were only going to be gone 2 hours, but oh what a 2 hours it turned out to be. We got our drinks and ordered our food and all looked good. Well, 45 minutes later still no food. When I finally got mine it was awful! Then it took forever to get the bill and we were late getting back to Nana's apparently Brynna was a wreck the whole time! That will be the last date night for a while.
Our big boy is now on to swim lessons all by himself now! Mommy no longer gets in the pool with him. :( It's been a really good thing though because he does such much better with Ms. Chelsea than he ever did with me. He jumped right in and started trying to swim! They really push him hard, but he doesn't back down! He really looks forward to swimming in the "new pool" as he calls it! We get to watch him through the glass and it's just so cute. I can't believe how big he is getting.

And then there is homecoming! It was a good trip back to Indiana, but short as usual! Gordon and I got to seem some friends from college! We had dinner Friday night and got a good night out (very rare). We went to a couple of bars, but just couldn't handle the crowds like we used to. We ended up at the Bluebird and listened to some music. Then Saturday we tried to take the kids out tailgating, but I felt very weird about it! It just didn't seem right to have my little ones hanging out near all the people drinking. We stayed out for about 30 minutes! I got to see some friends that I haven't seen in like 7 years. It was very nice to see old friends!

Ok, this is a novel...halloween will be next!
