Beer-cation

Hmm, this one is not about the kids, it's about Mommy and Daddy!  About 6 months back, I tried to convince Gordon that we should head to wine country and tour some wineries.  Well, after about 3 days it was booked!  Only, it had turned from wine country into Delaware and one brewery! Dogfish Head.

Dogfish Head beer has quickly become one of Gordon's favorites and when reading the owners book, he discovered the Dogfish Head 360 experience.  And March 29th, that's where we were!

We flew in the 29th to BWI and drove 2 hours to Rehoboth Beach, Delware and stayed a Comfort Inn and got an awful nights sleep! :)  Bright and early the next morning we headed over to the strip and got our first view of the Pub (which we became very familiar with).  It was out of season so most shops were closed and it was cold and overcast so we decided to head over to Lewes, DE to the Inn we booked about 11am hoping we could get in.  Sure enough they let us in!  The 360 package included 2 nights at The Inn at Canal Street in Lewes fully stocked with Dogfish Head beer, Dogfish Head soaps, bottle openers, reading, a rap cd by the owner of Dogfish Head (not good), a tour of the Brewery, t shirts, $50 toward the Pub and a round-trip cab to the pub.  It was an awesome deal.

 We spend the first lunch at the Pub drinking and eating for 3 hours.  It was fantastic! :)  The food was not too bad and the beer was wonderful.  After a long lunch we headed back to the Inn for a little R&R (Gordon took a nap) and then we decided to head back to the Pub for dinner and some good Bluegrass music.  It was a great night and we took a cab there so we were able to let loose and have fun.  Needless to say, these 2 old folks were in bed by midnight! :)

The next morning, we headed out to breakfast at Angela's and then over to the Brewery in Milton.  When we got there there, there was this sign...

Unfortunately, there had been a special tour show up so we had to kill an hour and a half until our tour started.  We drove around the tiny  little town of Milton, stopped in at a Food and burned time then hit our tour.  It was soo cool! They took us through and explained everything, told us the stories of "growing up", about the owner and we got to sip 4 different beers.  Several of the workers there stopped to talk to us and gave us a recommendation for lunch off the beaten path.  So, off to The Pickled Pig we went!  It was quite good and Gordon really enjoyed his first fried pickle.

We headed back to the Inn, both took naps and then hit the Pub for dinner again (yes, that makes 3 visits)!  Saturday night had a reggae band that was not bad, we had a few beers and laughed and just had a good time and once again, heads on pillows by midnight!

Sunday morning was our last day so we had breakfast and coffee at a little shop by the Inn and while searching for lunch realized that nothing was open until 3 which was too late for us because we had the 2 hour drive back to the airport.  So, we hit a little Mexican joint on the way out of town and off to the airport we went.

This was our first trip away alone since the kids were born and it was wonderful and much needed!!
